Generally for one bunny it is proper to clean their set up every three to four days. This entails changing their litter, refreshing their hay supply with fresh hay, cleaning their water bowl thoroughly to remove any chance of bacteria build up, and replacing their pellets. At least once a week you will want to do a deep clean. A deep clean generally entails a thorough cleaning of the litter box, a cleaning of the entire cage, wiping it down thoroughly, along with the standard cleaning of fresh litter, hay, fruits, veggies, and water. When cleaning the litter box we recommend soaking it in warm soapy water to kill off bacteria and then pairing that with a wipe down after. Chemicals of any kind can be extremely harmful to your bunny so we strongly recommend either using a combination of vinegar and water, or an extremely diluted amount of bleach and water. If you decide to use bleach and water, the mixture should be no more than roughly 10% Bleach to 90% water. Following, you must let the cleaned area vent and wipe it down thoroughly with regular water to remove any residual chemical content. Keeping your bunny's environment clean and organized is an essential part of your bunny's overall health and wellness.
