Completing The Litter Training Of Your Bunny The Easiest Way Prior To and Following Going To Their "Furever Home"

Litter training your bunny is a fairly simplistic process, especially when it comes to Lovely Bunny's because we have already began the process for our bunnies prior to them going to their "Furever Home". By structuring your bunny's set up in line with our Cage Packages the transition becomes even more effective. This is due mainly to the fact that when our bunnies are weened from their mother, that is the exact set up they are transferred to, along with one other bunny as a companion to keep each other company in between their playtime and outside cage time. Below are the steps we take in order to assure that they are on the correct path to becoming completely litter trained.

Before Going To Their New "Furever Home"
1. Handling them from birth really gives them the ability to adapt to human contact, and eventually becoming accustomed to the transition of transferring to the new Bunny Owner, without it being a complete culture shock to human contact. This helps with them feeling as if they do not need to mark their territory.
2. Transitioning to the proper set up prior to them going home creates a much more seamless transition, even with meeting their new family for the first time, they are accustomed to their temporary living area.
3. Structuring the Cage Set Up the way we do propels the baby buns to subconsciously be litter training themselves.
4. The way we do this is place the fresh Timothy and Alfalfa Hay into  the corner of their litter box, so when they eat they are going to the bathroom in their litter box, solely leaving their scent in that area.
Post Going To Their New "Furever Home"
1. Setting up the
Cage Package accordingly will help solidify the process of them completing their litter training.
2. Make sure at playtime the litter box is removed from the cage in case they have to use it.
3. If they do make a mistake on accident, since they still are babies, simply put the dropping into the litter box and swipe the area where they did have an accident to remove any scent left behind.
4. Repeat the process accordingly, and your bunny will be fully litter trained in no time!
As you can see the process prior to and after the bunnies going home makes finishing off the litter training process as stress less and seamless as possible, and that is our main goal at Lovely Bunny's Rabbitry! For any additional questions or concerns please always feel free to reach out!
Wishing all of our customers and bunny/animal lovers alike all of our love!
