There have been a vast number of instances where pets have saved their owners lives. You see a heart warming story in the news almost everyday. While our bunnies have helped me in multiple instances, a near death experience, with a long vigorous recovery, I attribute solely to our bunnies to saving my life. It all began as simple stomach pains. Pains that can be attributed to a wide variety of non-life threatening issues, cramps, gas, etc. The problem was as time went on, the pains were becoming increasingly severe, food was no longer appetizing, and I was so dedicated I continued to carry on with working on Lovely Bunny's. Eventually I sought a doctor and was referred to specialist. Upon arrival I drank a rather disgusting tasting drink, in order to scan my system for any undetected issues. I was made aware I had a blockage in my stomach, and would be treated accordingly. I felt relief in the fact, I was going to be fine and my leave of absence would not be over extended. Overtime however, I continued to decline in health, my mobility decreased significantly, my strength was decreasing at a accelerated pace as well. Trying to fight through and be strong was no longer possible. I laid in my bed essentially paralyzed. I was dying in terrible agony. The only thing I could think about was, I have to make it through this for the sake of Lovely Bunny's, it is far too important. The ambulance arrived, I could not even sit up without assistance. Long story short, I actually had Intestinal Ischemia, which left untreated can kill you. The recovery process was vigorous and unforgiving, but my bunnies gave me strength, our customers both current and future gave me strength, and for that I am forever thankful. At 32 years old, my outlook on life has completely changed. My message to everyone is a very simplistic one. Enjoy your family while you can, enjoy your pets while you can, and never take their unconditional love for granted. Life is an unforgiving journey, with highs and lows, and twist and turns, but pets and pet bunnies can truly be the light in the darkness to make you whole again. With that, I am reminded everyday how lucky I am for every moment I have to spend with our customers and our bunnies, and I will carry this in my thoughts for the rest of my life.
