Bunnies as a whole are amazing, gentle, and kind creatures. With hundreds of breeds out there, the selection of the kind of bunny you would like as a pet can sometimes be daunting. Holland Lops are, in my biased opinion, by far the most adorable looking bunnies in the world! However, it is important "Not to just judge a book by its cover". Below I have broken down some key elements on just what makes Holland Lops such amazing pets! The creation of Holland Lops as a breed, spans decades back. A breeder cross bred a French Lop with a Netherland Dwarf. The French Lop was larger sized bunny, while the Netherland Dwarf was extremely small, and their lack in size and bone structure led to potential shorter life spans. While not a complete success from the start, a few tries to cross breed eventually was successful, and dubbed what we all know to today and the Holland Lop. Ranging from roughly 2.5-4 pounds fully grown, they are well sized and proportioned to where if taken care of properly can live up to 10-12 years! The Holland Lop was actually created with the mindset of being a pet rabbit. So over the decades their popularity has risen because of their temperament being second to none. With calm personalities, and loving non aggressive instincts, they quickly warm up to their new owners. Their ability to bond with their human counterparts is extremely quick, and they were created with the mind set to do exactly that! The Holland Lop is overall easy to care for, following the steps of the initial proper cage set up, and diet plan, they become an essential part of your family almost instantaneously. They carry no hereditary diseases, such as a blindness in a Golden Retriever, and a two week veterinarian check up to give the double confirmation you have a healthy, happy bunny is the final piece to knowing you have a pet that will be with you for many, many years to come! With calm, loving personalities, and the bunnies being given so much love and attention prior to the Holland Lops going to their new home, they certainly check all the boxes when it comes to getting a pet that is going to return more love and affection than you can ever imagine. With all that it mind, it is of no surprise why the pet bunny lover world gravitates so much to these adorable bunnies aside from their exotically beautiful appearance!
