Having a Bunny Medical Kit if something accidentally happens to your bunny and the Veterinarian is currently unavailable, is a luxury that having a bunny affords unlike other pets. Most issues or conditions are diagnosable based off reading the "Pet Bunny Health and What to Watch Out for" Article, and contacting us as a resource until your Primary Vet Opens or is available. Having the items listed in the Medical Kit will also give you the ability to remedy certain situations where a Vet trip is not necessary, like accidentally clipping a nail too short or your bunny getting a minor scrape accidentally. Lovely Bunny's has thrived on being proactive, both on our end prior to a bunny going to their Forever Home, along with equipping the new owners with the knowledge and tools to continue to keep their new baby bun happy, healthy, and safe. In light of continuing to enhance bunny safety and care, it does seem relevant to be equipped with these items at all times. Click READ MORE below to see the list of what the kit will consist of and what the applications for each item apply to
The list compiled comes from the Veterinary Professionals of the Animal Emergency Center, carrying vast experience in Bunny Care and we are truly thankful for their concise list that covers everything you will need.
***Prior to taking action on anything that will require Veterinary attention at some point, please reach out to us immediately and prior to taking any action.

  1.  Critical Care Herbivore (hand-feeding food). Measure 1.75 Tbsp dry product per pound of rabbit body weight, then mix one part dry product with two parts warm water to reach a consistency appropriate for syringe feeding. Divide this mixture over 4-6 feedings per day.
  2. A syringe for hand feeding.
  3. Simethicone to be given if your rabbit is not eating. Give 1mL once, may give a second dose 30 minutes later if needed.
  4. Artificial tears for eye irritation. Apply one drop to eye as needed.
  5. Styptic powder (such as Kwik-Stop) to clot a bleeding toenail.
  6. Sterile gauze for wound compresses.
  7. Sterile saline for wound cleansing.
  8. A rectal thermometer.
  9. Towels for wrapping and transport.
  10. Appropriate size carrier for safe transport in emergencies. If you have multiple rabbits, make sure you have one carrier per bun! We recommend storing your first aid kit nearby or inside this carrier for quick access in an emergency.

Having these items on hand may never need to be used, however when you love your bunny with all your heart it never does hurt to be prepared.

Wishing All The Bunny Lovers Out There The Best,
