"The Purple Leash Project"- A Personal Place In All Of our hearts

10/19/2023

"PURPLE LEASH PROJECT"
Purina has launched the "Purple Leash Project". This is a focus on the barrier that is sometimes created when you are a pet owner and it gets in the way of leaving your abuser. This could be having to leave your pet in danger and feeling forced to stay for their sake, or threatening your pet by your abuser if you leave. The focus is to help the victim escape the situation with their pet and them staying together. Three months ago there was a story relayed to us where a woman's boyfriend beat her and stomped her pet bunny to death. At the time, she wanted this to be posted to our Instagram but was a very heart wrenching, descriptive, story that at the time was very morbid. On a positive note, with this launch going public, we want to help! If you are the owner of a pet bunny that you need kept in a safe environment until you escape your abusive situation, please call and we will board your bunny in a home setting for absolutely no charge for up to a week to help you escape your current situation. All names will be completely anonymous and not displayed anywhere. All calls will remain internal solely with myself and no other staff members. You will also receive a video daily to bring your spirits up when going through this trying time. I wish we could board all pets, unfortunately we are only equipped for pet bunnies. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU IF YOU NEED...
Wishing the Entire World All of Our Love,
Matthew- Co-Owner of Lovely Bunny's

October 11th of this month was "National Pet Obesity Awareness Day". In light of this, I did want to write an update that does bring attention to the fact that Pet Obesity is relevant to all pets, including bunnies. Fortunately, Veterinarians I speak with along with myself work off the Body Condition Score. This is a rating system from one to five that helps determine regardless of size, your bunny is in the proper category, which is category three, Ideal. For more information on the Bunny Body Condition Score Chart and how to keep your bunny in the Ideal Category, please refer to article: Keeping Your Pet Bunny Healthy Using The Bunny Body Condition Score
The five levels Rate as this:
1. Emaciated
2. Lean
3 Ideal**
5. Fat
6. Obese
Use the linked Article above as a guideline for exactly how to keep your bunny in the right range so they can live the longest, healthiest, and as a result happiest life possible!!!

As you can see the key to raising a happy and healthy bunny is a team effort. On one end, our job is to get you a perfectly healthy bunny. Added, we need to prioritize the bunny when weened at the proper age from her mother, to make sure they continue to receive the proper care, interaction  and love to make the transition to their forever home seamlessly. Communication is key, that is why before reserving a bunny it is required to have a phone conversation to understand the potential bunny parents situation, and how we can make a situation where the bunny is going to receive all the love and attention it deserves. One of the ways aside from always being available by call or text, is to make sure the customer reads the "Bunny Care Information Packet". The is received, along with their legally validated receipt following reservation or prior to purchase. "Scanning For The Right Breeder, And 10 Major Questions To Ask Prior To Selecting One"

9/17/2023

Holland Lop Rabbit For Sale At www.lovelybunnys.com
While consolidation continues, all Breeders do not take the same amount of pride in breeding happy, healthy bunnies. This is continuing to change as the internet spreads more accurate information. Before reaching out to a breeder here are some key pre-scanning tools you can use to verify if this step you are about to take is the correct one.
First, do a scan of Social Media, if you see videos of adults and babies on their page that is packed with a ton of content, it is a good sign but by all means NOT a complete "Green Light".
Next Proceed to the website. If the website is highly developed with customer videos, pictures, and reviews that are not "Pirated" this is another sign that you are on the right track.
On the Website look through all the information given. Look to see if the website took years to develop, or was created in a two week span and simply has a few site pages to visit, and a contact us via email. Look for a Bunny Care Page and Blog Page that are not simply just copy and pasted from other websites.
Following the previous step, look for transparency, accessibility to reach at any point by phone call, and equally as important see how much effort is put into the Blog. Believe it or not if there are a large amount of Blog articles on Rabbit Treatment, Rabbit health, and more articles to expand education, it does give quite an indication on how much time is put into the business as a whole.
Lastly, make sure there is a customer protective Sales Policy. This is a huge indication into how well the breeder knows they have healthy bunnies going to their owners, especially if they recommend a wellness check. A Breeder selling unhealthy bunnies would not want their bunnies going anywhere near a Vet for obvious reasons, and would also not have a health guarantee.
Once you feel comfortable to make the phone call to inquire it is now time to run down the 10 questions list.

The History Of Holland Lops And How They Rose to The Most Sought Out Pet Rabbit In The World

9/13/2023

The origin of the Holland Lop is quite unique to other breeds of rabbits. They were bred between two bunnies, the oversized French Lop and undersized Netherland Dwarf. This took place in the early to mid-1960's era by a well renowned breeder by the name of Adriann de Cock, a resident of the Netherlands. The ultimate result was to have a domesticated pet rabbit that was not only adorable, but had a tremendously docile temperament, and the additional bonus of having the ability of an extended life span of 10-12 years.

If You Are Going To Go With Lovely Bunny's, Make Sure They are Treated Like the Lovely Bunny They Truly Are!

Bunnies popularity on a trend line is continuing to trend closer and closer to all traditional pets. However, it is important to know that like other traditional pets being dogs and cat mainly, these wonderful animals do require a commitment of anywhere of from 8-12 years. I spoke with a gentleman yesterday who wanted a bunny because his girlfriend's bunny died within a week. So immediately I went through all the standard factors of this like poor breeding, underage bunnies, stasis from not knowing the signs of this or any other possibilities. The truly upsetting thing after I came out of a state of shock and reflected on the call was the actual reason the bunny passed, had no relevance to any of these factors at all except potentially one, but still unlikely. Bringing two bunnies home together at the same time when they are babies will essentially alleviate having to work at safely bonding the two bunnies together. The reason being, they are so young and have been sharing space since weening from their mother that they already find comfort in each other since they were together their whole lives. If you have a bunny that is older and fully grown and want to introduce a companion for them, or you have bunnies that have randomly shattered their bond for a multitude of reasons, then this article is going to be without doubt the best way to safely re-solidify that bond they will grow to have or have once had.
