"PURPLE LEASH PROJECT"
Purina has launched the "Purple Leash Project". This is a focus on the barrier that is sometimes created when you are a pet owner and it gets in the way of leaving your abuser. This could be having to leave your pet in danger and feeling forced to stay for their sake, or threatening your pet by your abuser if you leave. The focus is to help the victim escape the situation with their pet and them staying together. Three months ago there was a story relayed to us where a woman's boyfriend beat her and stomped her pet bunny to death. At the time, she wanted this to be posted to our Instagram but was a very heart wrenching, descriptive, story that at the time was very morbid. On a positive note, with this launch going public, we want to help! If you are the owner of a pet bunny that you need kept in a safe environment until you escape your abusive situation, please call and we will board your bunny in a home setting for absolutely no charge for up to a week to help you escape your current situation. All names will be completely anonymous and not displayed anywhere. All calls will remain internal solely with myself and no other staff members. You will also receive a video daily to bring your spirits up when going through this trying time. I wish we could board all pets, unfortunately we are only equipped for pet bunnies. While consolidation continues, all Breeders do not take the same amount of pride in breeding happy, healthy bunnies. This is continuing to change as the internet spreads more accurate information. Before reaching out to a breeder here are some key pre-scanning tools you can use to verify if this step you are about to take is the correct one. First, do a scan of Social Media, if you see videos of adults and babies on their page that is packed with a ton of content, it is a good sign but by all means NOT a complete "Green Light". Next Proceed to the website. If the website is highly developed with customer videos, pictures, and reviews that are not "Pirated" this is another sign that you are on the right track. On the Website look through all the information given. Look to see if the website took years to develop, or was created in a two week span and simply has a few site pages to visit, and a contact us via email. Look for a Bunny Care Page and Blog Page that are not simply just copy and pasted from other websites. Following the previous step, look for transparency, accessibility to reach at any point by phone call, and equally as important see how much effort is put into the Blog. Believe it or not if there are a large amount of Blog articles on Rabbit Treatment, Rabbit health, and more articles to expand education, it does give quite an indication on how much time is put into the business as a whole. Lastly, make sure there is a customer protective Sales Policy. This is a huge indication into how well the breeder knows they have healthy bunnies going to their owners, especially if they recommend a wellness check. A Breeder selling unhealthy bunnies would not want their bunnies going anywhere near a Vet for obvious reasons, and would also not have a health guarantee. Once you feel comfortable to make the phone call to inquire it is now time to run down the 10 questions list. The History Of Holland Lops And How They Rose to The Most Sought Out Pet Rabbit In The World9/13/2023
Bringing two bunnies home together at the same time when they are babies will essentially alleviate having to work at safely bonding the two bunnies together. The reason being, they are so young and have been sharing space since weening from their mother that they already find comfort in each other since they were together their whole lives. If you have a bunny that is older and fully grown and want to introduce a companion for them, or you have bunnies that have randomly shattered their bond for a multitude of reasons, then this article is going to be without doubt the best way to safely re-solidify that bond they will grow to have or have once had. *Click Read More below to view full article *New Holland Lop Bunnies will be posted as of September 3rd or 4th. For more information or to be added to the notification list, visit our Available Bunnies Page With August coming to a close, and September rolling in, with the month of September includes International Rabbit Day! At Lovely Bunny's we will be celebrating all month with special postings, videos, pictures, and just fun ways to reach out to the animal community to spread the amazing pets bunnies truly are. This month International Bunny Day Falls on the 23rd of September, and with that I would like to take a look back over the past five years at how far organizations, activists, and the world in general have paved the way for bunnies to find owners humanely, pre-vetted, and educated prior to a bunny going to their new loving owner. Please be aware that where we were, which was a bunny lover's nightmare to how far we have come is shockingly comforting! Click Read More Below For More Information.
